The Principal areas of practice:

·         LITIGATION: We conduct commercial litigation in all the High Court and the Supreme Court of India amongst other Civil Court in India and arbitration which emphasis on maritime matters, insurance, civil engineering, contract, agency, distributorship, employment law dispute including debt recovery, defamation, corporate and banking disputes.

·         ADMIRALTY AND MARITIME MATTERS: We advise on all types of disputes representing owners, charterers, cargo owners and their insurers, including P&I clubs and conduct litigation and arbitration. We have extensive experience of handling ship arrest and release. We handle all aspects of ship finance, sale, purchase and registration. Advice and  assistance on all types of disputes and claims, including casualties, collision, cargo, charterparty, jurisdiction, Conflict of Laws, bill of lading, carriage of goods, contract conditions, fire, liens, General Average, containers, recoveries, subrogation, casualties, freight forwarders liabilities, multimodal and unimodal, insurance and reinsurance. We advise on all aspects of sea, air and road carriage. We handle commercial disputes and advise on financing international trade through letter of credit, bills of exchange and other methods. We prepare standard conditions of sale and advise on trade in commodities of all kinds. We advise on the terms of construction and shipbuilding contracts, civil engineering, consultancy contracts and handle dispute resolution through litigation, arbitration and conciliation proceedings.   

·         AVIATION: Advice on all aspects of international aviation, including aviation leasing and finance, registration and liability claims. We have extensive experience of handling grounding of aircraft. Hull, liability, carriage of cargo and passengers, including the Warsaw Convention and insurance aspects.

·         COMMERCIAL AND CORPORATE: The firm conducts litigation, arbitration in India and worldwide through its associate and correspondent lawyers, concerning disputes arising in banking, commodities, commercial contracts, sale of goods, debt recovery, public and private international law, ICC and other international arbitral bodies. Including company formations, reconstructions, venture capital arrangements, loan and security agreements, joint ventures and partnerships and advice on employment. We also deal extensively with the resolution of company and commercial disputes including shareholders’ rights, directors’ duties and related matters. There is a wide range of support services available, from business incorporation to nominee and administrative services, searches, filing of forms etc. Advice on all aspects of corporate law. Advice on all other commercial matters, including advice on structuring manufacturing agency, distributor and licensing agreements, negotiation, drafting and advising on registration, computer software licensing.

·         INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY: We advice on and deal with the registration, protection and enforcement of intellectual property rights including rights relating to trademarks, copyrights, patents, get-ups and designs. We also prepare intellectual property licensing and  registered user agreements. Matters arising in connection with the media, communications and entertainment fields, competition law, computers, licensing and franchising agreements and data protection advice. 

·         ARBITRATION AND CONCILIATION: We handle arbitration before ICC in English language and before the arbitrators governed under the Indian Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996.

·         ENERGY, OIL AND GAS: We advise on the legal aspects of the entire process, from exploration through production to distribution. We advice on all aspects of oil and gas projects and petroleum law involving advice on field development through construction to final production including the construction of the pipelines and platforms, through-put, loading, lifting, royalty in kind payments, operating and sales contracts for crude oil and gas, offtake agreements, drilling contracts, equipment leasing agreements and production sharing agreements. We also prepare and advise on refining agreements, distribution  and binding agreements, amending and licensing agreements and a range of downstream arrangements and agreements relating to petro-chemical industries. Advice on all onshore and offshore licensing, exporation and production; oil trading  and gas contracts; finance and corporate; refining and retailing; oil and gas litigation; environmental aspects of the oil business; service industry. In the electricity sector, we act for state owned and privatized power generation, transmission and distribution companies and large industrial consumers. We are also active in the mining sector.

·         BANKING AND FINANCIAL SERVICES: We advise on all aspects of banking and financial services including advice on syndication and other loan arrangements, facility letters, security documentation, letter of credit and financial services regulations, project finance, ship finance, guarantee arrangements, performance bonds and bonding facilities. We also advise and attend to matters before the Debt Recovery Tribunal.

·         IT AND TELECOMMUNICATIONS: The firm acts for suppliers and users of IT equipment and services and can advise on a broad range of issues related to IT and telecommunications industries, including Software licences and other standard terms of trade; System integration agreements; Agreements relating to facilities management and outsourcing; Agency and other channels of distribution.

·         PROPERTY AND CONSTRUCTION: The firm represents developers, contractors, Consultants, flat purchaser. Advice is also given on all aspects of disputes in the construction industry, flat purchasers. Taking searches, checking property title, issuing Public notice, and steps required to comply with for purchase of property, preparing the required documents. Advice on building, construction and real estate property ownership, building and development contracts and leasing.

·         ENVIRONMENT: The firm advises and acts for a wide range of clients in environmental and planning law issues including controversial developments, contaminated land, waste issues, genetically modified organisms, pollution, conservation.
